My periods are usually always irregular and hard to predict (my cycle usually lasts over 31 days, sometimes I get it every other month, and once in a while, I will get it at the same time for a few consecutive months). Last month, I got my regular period on July 17. This month, on the 18th, I started my "period", but it's brown clumps and VERYYY light/spotted. I have also been very tired and feverish with chills. I heard that this may just be "old blood" or due to the fact that it's light? Is this true? I'm not cramping. but I am bloated and just a little achey. (But on Saturday, I did have horrible stomach cramps for a few hours, which disappeared after I took some Tylenol) Thankss

Because you have irregular periods this is common. The fever and chills isn't a great thing but probably doesn't indicate a problem (as long as it doesn't happen every time). The brown clumps are the pieces of lining or clotted blood. These things are fine and it is good for you to have periods that get rid of everything sitting in there over the months. As your period becomes more regular these things shouldn't happen anymore. If they do make sure to talk to a doctor because you don't want to ignore a problem with your reproductive system.

Brown blood is indeed old blood but the dark clumps can be clots which is caused by the uterus pushing out the lining that built up during the month but no longer needed.

I would also recommend getting in touch with your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think is going on.

Mine used to be very irregular and also kind of like what you described. The best thing I did was to start taking birth control pills...now every month I know when I will get my period and they are so light and shorter and a lot less painful !

misery during a period normal ... cramps, bloating, fatigue, even diarrhea and nausea/vomitting ... going on the pill helped me ...

the clumps are clots of blood and tissue, this is just what happens when the blood is outside of an enclosed system ... happens more frequently when my period was late ...

it all sounds normal to me ...

Yeah don't worry you're perfectly normal! The clumps are part of the lining of your womb and the rest will just be blood. Hope this helps xo

I think this is something you should bring up to your doctor. I am sure they would be able to help you get regular, and check out the pains you are having.
