It takes a lot of dedication to be a ballet dancer, male or female. When I was growing up, a guy in my neighborhood took up ballet, and it required a great deal of discipline and athletic ability. The father of a friend of mine was also a ballet dancer in his youth, and was in great shape for a man of his age.

Mikael Baryshnikov (sp?) was a male ballet dancer, and was one of the most famous dancers in the ballet world. Everyone knew who he was; everyone knows who he is because he became a real famous dancer-turned- actor (along with the late, great Gregory Hines in "White Nights").
So, if you are a male ballet dancer, that is great.
That is my opinion of it.

Nothing wrong with them. They are people who enjoy expressing themselves through that kind of dance. I don't think in a modern open minded society, that they should be seen as any different. They work very hard to achieve. They are athletes really like the lady ballerina's are as well. I think it's important to have the male and female balance in every aspect of life.

I think ANY and ALL ballet dancers are extremely hard workers. I don't think that people realize just how difficult it is to be able to balance and to jump and to move as swiftly and as quietly as these people do. They practice for several HOURS a day to master their craft. I consider them to be a very dedicated bunch of people because I'll tell you right now... I do NOT have that type of concentration! So kudos to them.

I enjoy ballet and think the males add an extra dimension to the dance.

um they are people?

...ive only met one and he was gay. i never actually had a conversation with his friends that were dancers but i saw them and they were very metro sexual - almost to the point of being completely feminine. very into their looks some more than any other girl ive met lol

but these were just a smal group of guys. i cant generalize all male ballet dancers based on this. so....my opinion of them is that they can dance ...??

I think female ballerinas couldn't do half the dance steps without the males to provide counter-point and balance, so he is a necessary part of the dance. I don't necessarily think they're effeminate, if that's what you're asking.
