The switch does have two screws but there is a lot of rust repair on the bottom half of the car, so there is fiberglass around the switch

Guess the previous answerers didn't read all your question. If it's been glassed in then you're going to have to cut the fiberglass away. If a razor knife won't do it try a sharp chisel. If the screws are really rusted in you may have to drill them out. I'm not sure about the '54's but most Fords have the nuts or a nut plate welded to the floor. Some cars I've seen though, have the switch mounted up through the floor and the ears on the switch are threaded. Some old cars can be a real challenge to get apart, especially if someone along the line went wild with fiberglass.

There are a couple of screws that hold it in the floorboard. I would start with a bunch of WD-40 or other penetrating oil, because it is going to be rusty.

It may come down to using a drill and drilling the heads off the screws to get it out. good luck with it.

I believe thats going to be a push button on the left side of floor board, if so just pull back the floor mat and should be 2 screws holding it in,
