The movie is by Roland Emmerich. They have mammoths and saber tooth tigers, and a civilization that looks like a percurser to the Eygptian. Knowing the track record of the director I am sceptical.

Yes, I saw the trailer for 10,000 B.C. during the premier of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

The film looks epic and interesting. But more importantly it's an attempt at doing something that isn't mind-numbingly cliche', or a half-assed sequel, or a horrible remake; it's an attempt at something new, and just that is reason enough for me to watch it.

Roland Emmerich has directed some pretty successful movies: Independence Day, The Patriot, The Day After Tommorow. So I think if the movie doesn't do well, it won't be the directors fault.

Also, just a little world history, but saying that the civilization in 10,000 B.C. is "like a precurser (precursor) to the Egyptian" is a gross misunderstanding. Predynastic Egypt, the earliest age of Ancient Egypt began around 3100 B.C. That's a 7,000 year difference! Additionally, the film's inclusion of mammoths and sabre tooth cats suggest a northern climate, half the world away from Egypts deserts.

I saw the original trailer ....it was etched in stone and didn't look too funny.
