You shouldn't forget it.....but don't dwell on it.

Use the past as a learning tool.

No, you can't forget the past. Every experience we have changes us or adds to our knowledge in some way so why would you even want to try to forget it.

Do you learn to move on from the past? Yes and in some circumstances it takes longer than others. It is a process.

You will be fine as long as you take one step at a time.

Depends on what your trying to forget. I could give you a broad general answer like, in time the pain stops or time heals all wounds or something like that but somethings cannot be forgotten. Maybe they shouldn't be. It's living with the past that's the challenging part, accepting what's gone before and moving on and whether it seems to be possible or not you should always try. Holding grudges can injure your soul (I'm sorry!) and make you a bitter human being. Learn to live and let live.

Some people learn to forget the past. But, that depends on how bad the past was. If you were a victim of some type of sexual act against you, you can never forget that. If you had family members who called you "stupid" or "ugly" or "retarded", then you can never forget that.
There are a lot of things you cannot forget about the past especially if it was that painful.

No, unfortunately I have a memory like an elephant so I haven't learned to forget the past. I don't dredge it up often, but it still lingers there. I'm not saying I hold grudges, but sometimes when someone makes me cranky it comes out in a nasty way. Not good for mental health.

Absolutely not, because if you forget the past and the mistakes or goals then how can you learn and go on and advance as a human being. We are doomed to repeat the past if we do not learn or stay trapped in it. remember but don't dwell learn and gain knowledge from it...Then you achieve wisdom.............

The older and more mature you get, the more you'll learn to forget the past. You can't just try to forget it and expect to succeed.

It's not us who LEARN to forget the past, it's TIME which passes and replaces old memories.

From there the saying, time heals everything.

The past is the past. I forget the things that I regret because there is NO reason to remember it. Not good for ur MENTAL health. But I do like to remember the good times. Its good for the soul...

No, you resign which it's a different thing. You never forget because you cannot erase or change the past in any shape or form. People put it behind them though, but at one point or another they remember it.
