I have a 96 Saturn (SL). The a/c is going hay-wire. Sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. We can be going down the road and all of a sudden the a/c quits. We cut it off and wait a little while before turning it back on. It will work for a spell and quit again !!!I have a toddler in the car and a/c is needed !! I've put freon in and stop leak for car a/c 's. What can I do.. I know several people that are having the same problem and they each have a different type of car?

If you live in a humid part of the world, the evaporator could be frosting up. This sometimes happens when the thermostat's lower limit is set to the point where it can allow the coils to get down to freezing and stay there.

Try running the temperature control a little higher, and see if it works continuously. If it does, then you have your answer.

You've already recharged the AC. And now it is low again and not working? Did you take it to an AC shop and have it looked at? With a toddler in the car, you need to get the leak fixed and then recharged. There is no easy fix with this. Hopefully it is just a seal or a hose leaking and the repair won't be that much. Good luck to you.

Have your anti freeze checked. It sounds like the evaporator may be freezing. If you have sufficient anti freeze then you need a shop to check your a/c with a set of gauges made for that purpose. You should not add freon unless you are sure it is needed.
