"Medical literature shows that the appendix is not generally credited with significant function. The appendix is rich in infection-fighting lymphoid cells, suggesting that it might play a role in the immune system."
"Some experts believe that the appendix was used for digesting leaves as primates. Over time, we have eaten less vegetables and have evolved, over millions of years, for this organ to be smaller to make room for our stomach."

Hi,
I think you mean APPENDIX.
It was once used as a second stomach like cattle, for storing food.
At one time the women of the tribe would use the food in this stomach to feed the young in the same way as birds do.
Over the centuries, it has become less and less used and is now just a small tube of tissue closed at one end which is attached to the lower end of the intestines. This normally has sparrakeet's in which help the body and are nothing to worry about.

Most believe it is not but a vestigial organ. Which means the Appendix has no use in the human body. Some scientists believe that it has a purpose when everyone is in their fetal stage providing some purpose with the endocrine system

The vermiform appendix is a narrow, blind tube protruding from the cecum, having no known useful function, in humans being 3 to 4 in. (8 to 10 cm) long and situated in the lower right-hand part of the abdomen. It is also present in some mammals besides humans.
