Where I live , you get a small amount per day [$10.00, I think]
and they provide bus tickets. you will get a "JUROR" badge to wear [ VERY stylish] at all times while in the building.

you wait in the jury pool room until selected for a jury...
the lawyers run you thru voir dire, which is the 'on the jury/off the jury' part of the process. if you stay on the jury, you may report to a courtroom. if not you may go back to the jury pool.

It depends on where you live. I'm in Missouri and was paid $17.00 a day for a 3 day trial. But Missouri pays nothing for a one day trial and most trials are one day trials. Also chances are that within a couple hours of arriving at the courthouse you will go home. In our trial, we had 50 or so jury candidates and only 15 were selected (alternate and token jurors). In our case, it was our place in line when we filed into the courtroom that determined if we were on the jury or not. The front row basically was the jury. It was a great experience but definitely not very lucrative.

You get paid a set amount each day, and it's a very, very, very tiny amount.

Depending on where you are, it barely covers the cost of public parking near the courthouse. (Example, I'm in San Diego, and you get $13 a day for jury duty, and the cheapest parking 10 blocks away is $15 for the day.)

They have programs where you can get out of jury duty if it will cause a financial hardship, so you should check into that if you expect to get anything close to minimum wage.

Good luck.

Expect to get badly underpaid and to be bored out of your skull.
