You are overfeeding. Snails will not reproduce if you don't overfeed.

To get out existing snails, simply put a large vacation feeder in the tank and let the snails flock to it, then remove them easily by hand. Hand removal is the best removal strategy. Chemicals and killing them in the tank can have bad effects on the whole tank.

Soup is right, what ever you do don't release them into the environment or use a snail killer in your tank, the mass death of snails will cause an huge ammonia spike and do harm to the whole system. Bait and boil is probably the best answer.

Don't put them in a public pond! That is illegal! Drop a piece of boiled lettuce into the tank, and every night, pull it out and scrape the snails off and kill them (salt, boiling water, snail killer). This will allow you to keep the population in check without killing all of them.
