There are 12 inches per foot
So for 5 feet, there would be 5 x 12 = 60 inches
Now 1 inch=2.54 cm
So 60 inches
= 60 x 2.54 cm
=152.4 cm

A mathehematician wanted to calculate the size of his foot. He had no measuring instrument. He looked at his hand and found his forefinger had two joints and it was divisible into three parts of equal size. He called on part as an inch. You must have seen popular stars pointing this part of your finger and telling you "If I'll give you an inch, you'll take a yard". Now this mathematician wanted to measure his foot. So he used the first part of his forefinger to do the same. He found it to be 12 times. He concluded 1 foot =12inches. The metric system was introduced. He found everybody using this system as their fingers were not the same as his. So he decided to measure his first part of forefinger in cm. He found it to be 2.54 cm. He then multiplied 2.54 x12. He found it to be 30.48 cm. He concluded that 1 foot = 30.48cm. Now 5ft= 5 x 30.48 =152.4 cm

5 feet = 12 * 5 inches = 60 inches
60 inches = 60 * 2.54 cm = 152.4 approximately!
