I think it should be brought back then some of these kids won't be so high and mighty. The way they think these days. And no I am not on crack. I believe in prayer and punishment in school. If my kid needed a spanking in school then it has to be. I feel I wouldn't get in trouble if my school spanked him then I wouldn't get in trouble for spanking him or them. Don't have any children as of yet. But I do believe if spanking has to be then it shall be

No. I think it is a parent's and a family's responsibility to teach "moral" and traditional values to their children and not the job of the school or the teachers. Plus, children should not be forced to pray if they come from a home that does not believe in prayer and/or an organized religion. Additionally, the questions suggests that paddling is actually a good form of discipline and punishment - so these items suggest way to much and give the school too much power over what a parent should be doing. Kids should not be subject to this in any school setting - that is a parents job.

I hear that before 1963(?) when there was prayer, kids were more respectful. Paddling shouldn't be to harm, but a quick smack on the backside has been known to cure...at least for the moment. As for separation of church and state, as someone on the board has mentioned, first you need to know what it really means and not regurgitate the popular and wrong interpretation. Separation of church and state has nothing to do with this question.

it is every ones choice as whether or not both should be brought back, which I would say it will not happen, too many lawsuits from parents, ACLU, etc, etc, both were done at my school, no emotional damage done too me, alittle physical, damage but I deserved a paddle. prayer in school touchy subject, so my answer would be yes use both, now I will hear the negative comments..

Personally, I'm a christian, but prayer should NOT be allowed in schools. It's not fair to those who don't share the same religious beliefs.
The paddle is just stupid.

Prayer definitely, the paddle...not so sure, but the kids nowadays could use a little more discipline, and if it takes a paddle to get through to them then so be it.

opposite to common incorrect information, prayer became in no way taken out of public colleges, ever, everywhere. Any student can % to wish at their discretion as long as they don't disrupt the academic technique. i've got considered scholars pray discretely interior the lunchroom earlier nutrients, interior the college room earlier tests, on the athletic field earlier and by way of a game, and so on. None of it became prohibited by skill of any regulation. the sole element that became prohibited became mandated prayer by skill of the college administration or the state. The prepare of religion is a controversy between the student and his or her kinfolk, the state or college has no employer in it.

Yes to prayer...no to paddle.
And by the way, separation of church and state was meant to protect the church, not the state. Of course, heaven forbid history and government classes actually teach that...we might have to actually DO something about it.
(Don't believe me? Read up on the relationship of church and state in the 1500's-early 1800's in western Europe. The state ran the church, gladly, and made everyone obey their mandates whether they were scriptural or not. People fled to America to escape it. It had absolutely nothing to do with school prayer.)
