About 36 hours for me-I like to go home ASAP!
Depends on where you live and your insurance coverage, and if you have a c-section you of course stay longer.....

Depends on how the birth goes. I've heard of people who have been discharged with medical approval after 12 hours. If you have a vaginal birth without complications you are looking at maybe a day or so. If you have a c-section you can expect to spend probably 3 to 5 days in the hospital. I had a c-section but begged to go home early and was discharged 36 hours after having my baby. It was probably a bit early, but all I could think about was getting home so that I could rest (hospitals aren't the most relaxing places).
You have the right to leave whenever you want to...against medical advice . In most cases, the doctors will give you a set of criteria they want you to meet before they will discharge you...based on how long you take to accomplish these tasks that will determine when you can go home. In my case (a c-section) the requirements were...I had to be eating solids, walking unassisted, able to pass gas and not requiring any medication above and beyond acetaminophen and ibuprofen (Canadian hospital though...I know many women in the U.S. are sent home with prescription strength pain medication).
Hope this helps..

In general -- and this can vary for many reasons -- a woman with a vaginal delivery and no complications can go home 18-36 hours after birth. If you have a c-section, you will stay in the hospital longer, like 4-5 days.

That depends on your insurance. Most insurance policies kick you out 48hrs (2 nights) after a vaginal birth & 96 hours (4 nights) after a c-section.
As long as there is no medical reason for you to stay, you are allowed to sign yourself out early. But on the flip side, if you are having additional complications post delivery, you can usually extend your stay by a day and still be covered by most insurance plans.
To find out what your specific circumstances require, contact the hospital that you plan on delivering at for their policy, and then contact your insurance company for theirs. This way there will be no surprises after your little bundle of joy is brought into the world.
Congratulations!

For a vaginal delivery that was not induced- 2 days and 3 nights usually.
vaginal birth with complications-3 days to a week
c-section (planned)-no less than 4 days
c-section because of complication-5-7 days
all births- no less than 2 days
pretty much. so there ya go. also, it depends on when you feel like leaving (if you feel fien in a day and tehre weren't any complications, they'll let you elave if you ask) and how long your insurance will cover your stay for(most people don't like to pay the price of an extra couple of days the insurance doesn't cover).

If you have a natural birth then some hospitals let you leave within 3 hours! Usually about 24 hrs though. If you have a c-section expect 3-4 days.

Only about 24 hours if you're doing fine. If not, it just depends on yours and the baby's health. Also, it depends on what the doctor thinks is appropriate for the situation.
In the case of a C-Section you could be there for a week maxium, and 3-4 days minimum.

Depends on some factors:
1. If you have vaginal or C-Section
2. If you had problems with your delivery (infection, ect)
Overall it's a day or two with vaginal (though some women have left hours after giving birth if their doc okays it)
and its 2-3 days or more for C-Sections.

Thats generally up to you I've seen women leave within a couple of hours I always opted to stay for the demo of the bath and to give ME chance to bond with the baby.
Discuss it with your midwife if there are no complications it will probably be your choice
Good Luck Helen
