Everyone is in a rush to get to work (am) or home (pm) so it is referred to a "rush hour:
It used to be that most jobs started and stopped at the same time, so the hour before and after was the busiest times for travel. Now in some areas the "Rush Hour" starts at 5 am and ends at 10am, and then starts again at 3 pm and goes until 7pm or later!

Rush hour= When people are rushing to someplace and its at some certain time of the day, people call it the peak, but there are too many cars so its huge traffic and noone is moving but they are in a hurry to get someplace.

Trust me. Just because it doesn't look like it, everybody is rushing to get somewhere. That's usually in big cities with 2 and 4 lane highways like New York and Atlanta just to name a major two. Some people fall to sleep in rush hour traffic because they realize they can't get anywhere but in their mind and hearts, they're still rushing.

You know by now it is because at the end of the day everyone wants to "rush" home. What they don't realize is, there are at least a dozen alternatives in almost every large city, to using the freeway. Sadly, everyone wants to be on the freeway, so the traffic is at a dead stop.
Take the bus ... the train ... the trolley .... and leave your car at a convenient spot close to home.

well since everyone's rushing they all clog up the roads and can't go anywhere. so they wish they could move faster and RUSH home but they cant cause some stupid person wants to go slow or cause of road work and that kinda stuff. but yea it is kinda a bad name. why cant they just call it slow traffic? i guess its like how you park in a driveway and drive in a parkway. people think its fun to make dumb names for simple things i guess.

seeing it is the time while the main truthfully everyone seems to be making an attempt to get abode, and that they are many times in a hurry. paradoxically, a brilliant variety of persons shifting jointly in a hurry finally end up going lots slower than you may think of. The greater human beings jammed jointly, the slower they pass simply by fact the chickens between then will react slowly. yet while human beings have been quite speedier and slightly greater vigilant there could be no rush hour.

It's called rush hour because every driver is in a huge rush to get to the expressway to suddenly drive slower than a snail.
