That really depends on your doctor and your body type.
My sister always gets induced early because her hips and birth canal are so small that keeping the baby small is the only way for her to have a vaginal delivery.
Me - I'm overdue now, looking at probably having an eight (plus?)-pounder, and well, my doc has never been worried about my hip size or the baby size.

I had a friend that had a 12 lbs 2 oz baby boy just after I had my daughter. They didn't induce her. They let her go into labor naturally.

My middle daughter was 10 lbs 9 oz and 23 1/2 inches long. ( they did an ultra sound the morning I was induced and they said she was about 6 lbs, and thought she had downs because her head meassured and the tripple screen came back bad................... She was fine.... JUST HUGE. They can get the weight wrong..... its just a guess....
a dr. wont induce you even if the baby is larger, unless the baby is ready...... such as lungs developed, ect.

just to let you know i had an 11 pound baby, delivered vaginally. the doctor said my son would be about 8-9 pounds and he was a little off, lol. if they think its going to be a big baby, and he is fully developed they may try and induce you earlier than your due date...unless you are positive for StrepB, then you have to wait it out like I did. good luck! and dont worry, bigger babies are way more fun!

The doctor can't make you do anything. He can only make recommendations. You can opt out of inductions. Babies grow at different rates and are born healthy at a whole range of weights and mothers can vaginally deliever babies at a range of weights. Induction carries some risks. See this LA Times article http://www.latimes.com/features/health/la-he-induction13aug13,1,5179922.story?coll=la-utilities-health.
Good luck and best wishes on a speedy delivery.

It depends on the doctor. My friend gave birth vaginally to a 10lb 6 oz baby, and she's only 5'3".
