NO. I know several Pit Bulls that are kept as pets and they are not vicious. In fact, they are scared of their own shadows. Pit Bulls were not bred to show aggression toward humans, in fact they are very loyal and obsessed with with pleasing their masters which can make them good pets. As with any dog proper training and socialization is the key to avoid aggression. They are trained and molded into vicious killers, not born that way. All dogs are animals and any animal can "snap" at anytime. I can a raise a poodle to be vicious. The only opportunity the Vick case gives us is the opportunity to purge society of a defect and put a criminal behind bars where he belongs.

You do not know the history of pitbulls, Pitbulls are americas dog, are a part of american culture in a positive way not just fighting. Recent years some very public cases have given the dog bad publicity because of the growth of popularity of gambling and pitfighting. Where is it in the vicks case do you see it being the dogs fault, his dogs where tortured and killed violently. Pits and rhottweilers are a part of wanna be ganster lifestyle as well. They have been treated inhumanely by careless owners that want to use the dog as a symbol as well as fighting . by themselves and raised well, pits are a very loyal, social confident dog. They are excellent with children and other pets. They are suspicious of but not unfriendly to strangers. If males are not fixed, males can be dominate and have natual instinct to be top dog. But as mentioned they are very social and do not do well when seperated from thier owners for long periods of time. They are good in small spaces such as a apt. as long as they get affection and exercise from their owner. They have been a valualble family pet to american familys for 200 years dating back to the birth of the nation as well as used in film. Pits rarely bite, if they did. the dog would be banned of couse because of the dogs powerfull bite, but the facts are they dont, they are not fear biters like labs and golden retrievers, those 2 breeds have more bites on record then pits, so do german shepards and other large breeds. Pit owners should relieze their dog is a powerful confident dog, he/she only wants your affection and attention, if you do not give that, you can run into behavior problems.

Another example of people being ignorant. People use other dogs for fighting besides pit bulls. It is extremely judgemental to blame an entire breed of dogs for the actions of a select few. And besides, if you destroy an entire breed of dogs that a few people use for fighting, they'll just find another breed to use, starting the cycle all over again.

What is wrong with you? Did you ever see
the Little Rascals on TV? Their pet was a
PIT BULL. Pits are no more viscious than
a Doberman, Rotweiller or any other of the
larger breeds. You can train any animal to
be viscious.

My three kids grew up with a pit bull (Stafford-shire Terrier) and kids from all over the neighborhood were always in the backyard with it. Never a problem! One of the finest breeds.

You obviously know nothing about dogs.
Raised correctly, pit bulls are some of the most loyal, loving, and playful animals.
They get a bad rap because degenerates like Vick and his other dog-fighting cohorts predominantly use pit bulls for fighting.

Pit Bulls, or any dog for that matter, are all puppies at one point in time. Innocent by nature.
It's not that pit bulls need to be eliminated, it's the degenerates that train them to be violent that need to be smacked upside the head a few times..

It's not the Pit Bulls, that should be exterminated, it's the irresponsible owners, that don't raise them properly, that should be exterminated.

Alright... no, pit bulls should NOT all be destroyed.
Like any other animal on this planet (people included) - there's nothing "wrong" with these animals... they need to be properly raised and trained in order to function in society (just like any other dog). If you train one to be mean and fight - that's all they know. (You can do the same thing with people... yet there's no cry for the elimination of people)
