I'm getting this annoying message like every 30 seconds. I'm connected through a DSL line but it keeps asking me to connect to the freaking dialup service for some reason. Obviously I can get on the internet since I'm typing this message. I just want this annoying message to go away. I don't know much about networking or broadband so please go easy on me.

I hate earthlink, too! And they're a booger to get rid of, for many many reasons, both technical and commercial, but I won't go into that rant here. Ask me some other time.
Aside from that...ensure your internet settings don't automatically dial up...check the Connections screen on Internet Options and maybe you have Always Dial? so maybe you should have either Never Dial or Dial When...?
And then, maybe, if you're on a DSL connection, you should dredge through your Internet Options and root out all connections set up for Dialup at-all-at-all (if your for-sure-for-sure never going to use them again) and purge-banish-erase-rub them out of your system forever, world without end!
