If anybody taped 60 min on Sunday there was a really good piece they did on it. In a nutshell, there are scientists that say that Global Warming is really happening & of course those that don't. In the 60 min. piece a scientist who used to believe it wasn't true changed his mind after researching glacial ice drillings that went down to ice that was 2000 years old. His findings were that green house gases starting in the industrial age around 1930 have contributed to a significant warming of our atmosphere. The warming atmosphere caused the glacier he studied to melt at a much faster rate. His conclusion being if that rate stays consistent in the future, it would raise sea level by a few feet & cause horrible flooding throughout the world. In addition, much of the coastal areas would be under water. Scary, Huh? Who knows, everyone has their own thoughts on its accuracy. Hope this helps!

in short: The idea of (man-made) global warming is that pollution (from cars, ships, factories etc) is getting into the atmosphere. These pollutants are called "greenhouse gasses" They rise to the top of the atmosphere and block heat energy from escaping the earth into space.

Since less heat is escaping the earth, the overall average temperatures are increasing.

Some people don't believe this is a problem, other's believe it will have catestrophic effects.

Some gases ("greenhouse gases") let sunlight in, which warms the Earth, and then block that heat from leaving. That's the "greenhouse effect", and it's a natural thing, mostly caused by water vapor.

Man is making excessive amounts of greenhouse gases, mostly by burning fossil fuels. That causes the delicate natural balance to go out of whack and the Earth warms. That's global warming.

It won't be a Hollywood style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.

Most scientists say, in 20-50 years. But we need to start right now to fix it, fixing it will take even longer than that.

Global Warming, its happening every day. Iceburgs are melting, glaciers are falling, and antarctica's disappearing. Take action. Stop pollution.

The world depends on you.

And it might not seem like much now, but the average tempeture's going up 5 degrees every year.

Imagine in 10 years.

Oh, and don't listen to George Bush. He's retarted and causing Global Warming.

global warming is all the contamination that goes to a ozone layer which makes a whole and because of that the sun rays come more direct which cause the weather to change in many ways like its heating up the earth and its causing the rain changes like that's the reason Texas is getting more rain then in Maryland also it makes the hurricanes stronger

Global worming is a reaction to our life style. And it isn't a myth, it's reality. The ozon layr gets thiner and the sun light has a stonger reaction on the weather

It is a normal cyclical trend due to increased heat radiated from the sun. The amount of heat radiated by the sun has been increasing and decreasing cyclically over millions of years.

Man does not cause it nor can he control it.

It is a phenomenon that some politicians are using to alarm people and seek their votes. Al Gore is the leader of this unscrupulous group of fearmongers.
