I asked this question in the sociology section in regards to homosexuality. I am personally intrigued/bewildered by the number of people who rationalize that homosexuality is wrong because of procreation. I know so many couples that are unable to have children and they are happily married. Also, there are over 6 billion people on this planet and I find it hard to believe that if this number continues to increase that it would help sustain humanity. Anyway here is the link.

BTW, I am not a homosexual, I'm just intolerant to intolerance.

Its pretty scary.
Does that mean that men and women who can't have children are morally wrong?

As a bisexual woman, I have the ability to procreate. So do lesbians via artificial insemination. The issue remains however that the world is dealing with an overpopulation issue. So bringing more children into the world is really something that should be curtailed, IMHO.
Yes I understand that people have the "right" to bring a child into the world. Unfortunately many of them cannot AFFORD to do so. So the tax burden rises because the parents (or parent, in MANY cases) have no resources.
Nature has a funny way of evening things out. More gay people means less children who cannot be provided for. For those same-sex couples who do choose to have a child, invitro is a great alternative method. So is adoption.
So I have no issue with homosexuality. But then, I'm bisexual, so why would I ? :)

Homosexuality comes from a genetic trait found to a certain extent in both sexes that on balance is more beneficial to females than it is harmful to males. So it persists in the genome for that reason. It has nothing to do with making right or wrong choices, except that any activity has options as to the relative benefits or consequences involved.

i think they like to use the "reproduction argument" because they think it counts as a pure logic argument because many people will defend against pure religious arguments.
the problem is that their assumption is religiously biased already even if they dont mention god or religion. they like to make the assumption that homosexuality is based on the act of sex which it obviously isnt. this is why they insist that it is a choice. they try and tell you the act of gay sex makes you gay and this is why they talk about reproduction. if every homosexual were to get into a straight relationship, homosexuality would still exist and reproduction would be absolutely irrelivant.

This is a very interesting question along with interesting answers. I think that each is to its own. Actually, there is a church in Texas that is dedicated to homosexuality. It is called Cathedral of Hope. I'm a christian and I believe that homosexuality is the same as heterosexual. This is just my two cents and I do agree with some of you here. :) Take care

Homophobics like to use the bible rational that a man is forbidden to spill his seed without procreation as the final goal. Don't you worry about it,their objections are pointless,God made you,God loves you.
