Our white GE Quitepower 2 dishwasher, door won't open. I can lift the handle all the way up and the dishwasher will stop running, but, I can't get the door to open. Any suggestions??? without calling someone out here to fix it???? Thank you in advance...( and please be precise on how to fix it...hubby away..)

You might have the type that cannot be opened while it is running. Let it go through the full cycle and then try the door again.

Make sure that the front of the dishwasher is at the off position! I've had my kids go turn the dial to something else. It won't shut if it's in a position where it's supposed to be open. Good Luck! :)

Did you advance the dial to the end of the cycle, before trying to open it? Sometimes doors appear stuck, when it's simply that the dial is not at the proper point in the cycle to allow the door open. (If the problem goes beyond this, I can't help, sorry.)

Is the dishwater running?it locks by itself when it is running i believe.
