I know aquarium salt is just un-iodized salt and the sea salt says that it doesnt supply iodide is that the same thing?

i thought kosher and sea salt were the same thing??

in the ingredients it says salt, and calcium silicate. thats it!

This really would depend on where the salt came from. Here in the Philippines, regular sea salt available in the market would do OK (i have been using them for the past 30+ years), since they come directly from the salt producers in he province where sea water is processed and dried and made into salt.

It's not exactly the same thing and really you would be wasting a ton of money doing that. I would suggest you get Kosher salt from the grocery. It's perfectly safe for freshwater use and far, far cheaper.

Yes and no. There are not strict enough control on food labels. For instance purified water is fine for your fish; and ppl assume all bottled water is purified but thats not the case. Even if it says specifically purified water they may have added minerals and didnt label it mineral water. Same goes for salt. It may say doesn't supply significant iodine; or contains no iodine but may contain other preservatives; minerals; etc. Certain salts may be clean of all extras but there is no way to tell for sure.
