I am spending 11 days in Panama and Costa Rica, so if there are any detours along the way from Panama City to San Jose that are worth going to please let me know. Thanks

Tica Bus and Panaline offer daily bus service between San Jose and Panama City. If the prices are still the same, it should be 50 dollars round trip.

It is a 14 to 16 hour bus trip, so have a book or a big will to fall asleep.

There are busses. On the way there is David that is a jumping off place to Boquete and Volcan which are Panama's highest areas where there are cloud forests and coffee plantations. From the border or from Perez Zeladon you could go to the Osa Penninsula.

cheapest way is by bus, but it is 16 (sixteen) hours......
Copa airlines is about $100.

either way there is no 'detours', the bus probably stops a coupla times for a rest , but the plane goes straight on thru.

There is plenty to see along the way tho, but you will have to have a car.
