I forgot what book this was in (maybe the Order of the Phoenix), but when Mad Eye uses his "special" eye (I'm not using the word "magic" cuz everyone wizard/witch is magical I guess) to see through a drawer to see if it's a boggart inside, what would the boggart be seen as?

Nobody knows what a boggart looks like when noone is there for it to scare, so would the boggart know that Mad Eye was looking at it and transform into what Mad Eye is scared of? Or would it not know that Moody was looking at it? If so, then wouldn't Mad Eye know what it looked like when no one was there for it to scare? I'm so confused...

Please, only answer if you truly know for sure.

Sorry, I don't know the answer but I think that Moody would see the shape of the Boggart that no one sees. I don't think there is any way of knowing. JKRowling might've left it to the imagination...

It is "Order of the Phoenix" that the scene you described appears in. And there is some question as to what he saw that lead him to know it was a boggart. Looking on the Harry Potter Lexicon it's suggested Moody either saw something blurry that would have made seeing the inside of the writing desk difficult or else he saw what a boggart turns into for him. It's also suggested he may actually be someone who knows what they really look like, though he never told anyone.

Since it seems a boggart only transforms into a persons worst fear when it confronts them, I doubt Moody saw his worst fear as the boggart didn't even know he was looking at it. So either he saw a blurry image or he actually knows what one looks like.

the boggart wouldnt know that mad eye is looking at it, since mad eye is looking at it from all the way downstairs and boggarts only change form when there is someone right there. from what i understand, boggarts dont have a true shape unless someone is looking directly at it....i'm pretty sure that all mad eye would have seen would have been some misty/hazy sort of blob that hovers around inside the cuboard

i think if the boggart transformed into something he would now because she's probably used to these type of things...........i read the book too, they didn't say anything, but in that chapter the woes of mrs. weasley, the boggart changes into many things...but the book never said how he knew

he proboaly knew it was because he used to those things, but obviously he wasn't wrong......

on this question noone is going to "truly know for sure" as u say. i know that it is not mentioned. u are right in thinking that noone knows what it looks like when it isnt transformed so ur guess is as good as anyones. so any of the good guesses given are the best anyone can do.

I think it was Goblet of Fire. And I think he saw a dementor or voldemort too because he was really Barty Crouch Jr.
