Jock itch and yeast infections are both fungal infections. It sounds like you guys are passing it back and forth to each other. You both need to get treated, and make sure the infection is gone from both of you before having unprotected sex again. Check with your doctor, because it sounds like topical treatments are not completely killing the infection. You both may need an oral medication.

Go make an appt with your OB-Gyn or Planned Parenthood. They will tell you what it is and how to get rid of it.

FWIW, jock itch is a fungus and can sometimes be passed from person to person. As jock itch is a fungus like yeast, it may produce similar symptoms as a yeast infection.

Yeast is also a fungus and absolutely can be passed back and forth via sexual activity. It isn't an STD per se, but it can be shared sexually. You are having symptoms of a yeast infection if you have the cottage cheese discharge. Yeast inf. won't always causing the itching and burning.

Either way, the treatment would be similar....most likely you will get a pill (Diflucan) from your doc. Make sure they know to treat your partner at the same time to prevent doing this again in a few weeks.

Jock itch can be a yeast infection - so yes, you are just passing it back and forth between you. You both need to be treated - him with a topical cream, and you with monistat or diflucan - before you have unprotected sex again - make sure it's totally gone away.

it still could be a yeast infection or other type of infection, get to the doc and have them do a culture. It might just be a matter of a simple treatment. Don't be afraid to be honest with your doctor. Both you and your boyfriend need to take care of your health

Fortunately, yeast infections and fungal infections (tinea cruris) can be treated with the same medications, so if you both treat yourselves well and simultaneously, there should be no big problem, though tinea does take a fairly long course of treatment for eradication. If simple treatments don't work, prescription treatments will.
