Disagree- gay marriage is denied to gay men and lesbians equally, so gender doesn't really come into play.

False.
Gay marriage is denied where it does not fit the statutory definition of a couple eligible to be married. Same sex couples are not the only factor that will disqualify people; one or more of the parties being underage, deceased, already married, or not a human being will also result in denial of a marriage license.
If you want to know why the statutory definition does not include same sex couples, you would have to ask the legislature of the particular state. It may be about not desiring to inflate the ranks of people qualifying for certain tax breaks, when gay couples do not fit the rationale for providing those breaks in the first place.
Or it may be about votes. Probably depends on who you ask.

Disagree.
Gay marriage is denied because the people of America aren't ready for such a concept. While I, personally, am for gay marriage, it's necessary to respect the fact that the American people voted against it. Appealing the vote (and winning) is just stripping Americans of their right to vote. How would you like it if people had voted for gay marriage and then your vote was stripped from you?
Crying about it won't do anything either. If someone really wants gay marriage to become a reality, then that person should work to show the people why it should be allowed instead of showing them weakness in the form of complaining.

Since both men and women can participate in gay marriage, (or be barred from it) it's not a gender issue. A gender issue is separate facilities for male and female students.

I don't see how gender discrimination could be the basis for being against gay marriage. Marriage is traditionally between members of the opposite sex that aren't related.
Unfortunately both sides on this issue are trying to smear the other. If you are against gay marriage then you are homophobic. Or if you are for gay marriage then you approve of homosexual bahavior. I think both of these arguments are ridiculous.
Many gay people could care less about the label "marriage", instead they want the rights that go along with marriage (civil unions seem like a good way to let both sides win to me). People who think being gay is wrong are entitled to their opinions, but they shouldn't be allowed to legislate how anyone behaves as long as that behavior doesn't harm others. Conversely, marriage is currently defined as between one man and one woman. Since this is a democracy, let the people vote for changing this, and accept it if the majority doesn't want it to change(see my earlier comment about civil unions). Pro gay marriage tactics are irritating people who normally would care less about gay people because of tactics like using activist judges, law suits based on discrimination, and other tactics to bring about change when a vote allows people to be heard instead of told what is right.
All I know is I'm tired of our government telling me how to live my life. My solution, less government! Unfortunately, the liberal solution is more government to enforce what they think is right, and the conservative view is more government to enforce what they think is right. OY!

Gender is determined by biological imperative. Marriage is a social or religous institution that furthers the welfare of the family unit and provides for the care of any children from that issue. Since I've never seen any butt-babies and I wouldn't call what butt-buddies have a family ---what the hell is the point to it? It's just queers doing cheers.

Disagree
I agree with the poster that pointed out gay people could still get married but their husband/wife would have to be of the opposite sex.
It's not a Christian thing really either- because Christainity is not the only religion that has a problem with homosexuality- be grateful you aren't in Iran

Wrong.
There are gays with penises. There are gays with vaginas. So the refusal of most states to adopt gay marriage is not about gender. Or sex. I would suggest you pull out a dictionary and study up on the difference between "gender" and "sex."

Agree. Boys can't join Girl Scouts based on gender discrimination. Marriage is between a man and a woman, if you don't meet the gender criteria, you can't get married. So yes, it is discrimination, but I don't see any problem with it.
