Any Micky Rooney/Judy Garland combo such as:

Babes in Arms
Babes on Broadway
Strike Up The Band
and any Andy Hardy Movie

Judy Garland movies are another plus:

Meet Me in St. Louis

Easter Parade

Some other great musicals from that era are:

Showboat
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Rosalie
West Side Story
Kiss Me, Kate (a musical version of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew--also a good movie)

Screwball comedies?

Any Marx Brothers' film
Bringing Up Baby
The Philedelphia Story
Arsenic and Old Lace
The Women
How to Marry A Millionare

Dramas?

Human Comedy
Grapes of Wrath
Gone With The Wind
The Wrong Man
To Kill A Mockingbird
Rebel Without a Cause
Giant
A Place in the Sun

Hope that will get you started anyway.

30's - I'd suggest The Marx Brothers films, such as Animal Crakcers, Horse Feathers, Duck Soup or perhaps the Monster Movies like Bela Lugosi's Dracula, Boris Karloff's Frankenstein or Bride of Frankenstein -- good fun in all those.

40's - Double Indemnity, Uninvited, It's a Wonderful Life, Treasure of the Sierra Madre

50's - Harvey, Importance of Being Earnest, Around the World in 80 Days; or perhaps some of the Sci-Fi Classics like Day the Earth Stood Still, The Thing, Forbidden Planet. Others: Stalag 17, Seven Samurai, Journey to the Center of the Earth

60's - North by Northwest, Magnificent Seven, Lawrence of Arabia, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Planet of the Apes, The Producers
