Firstly its a combination of Land and Religion. After WW2, Israel was cut out of Palestine to form a new country in the Jewish holy land. This is why the Israeli's and Palestinians are still fighting to this day. Now placing Israel where they did angered much of the Muslim community because not only did they basically give Palestine to them, they also put the Jews in the Islamic Holy land. And Judaism to the Muslims is a heretical dead religion. So they considered it a blaspheme that the Jews are there. It just so happens that the Jews think the same thing about the Muslims because their Holy Lands are in the same place. IE, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity all share a common holy land, that is why there has been wars over for the last 2,000 years or so.

It is political because essentially the Europeans sought a solution to the Jewish problem and stuck the Jews there.
It is religious because three religions claim to have started in Palestine.
It is the land because the Palestinians had rightfully conquered the area after the Romans were expelled. In which the Byzantines then finally the Turks took over.
Essentially, Israel should belong to the Palestinians but the Israelis have too much power and wealth thus the Palestine's will have to negotiate. The suicide bombings really solve nothing.

Because radical Muslims believe that Allah rules all and that all other religions and people are infidels and that Israel should have never been a country. They are hateful, insane animals...
This is for all of you ant-Semitic idiots out there...The land that is now known as Israel was not Palestine...maybe it was thousands of years ago but in the 1940's it was owned by the British and it was part of a land deal called the British Mandate. Modern day Jordan was a part of the land deal...why don't you Jew haters call Jordan an occupation of Palestine? Get used to it anti-Semites...the Muslims will never get Israel or Jerusalem...it belongs to the Jews and the Christians...

I've always thought it goes back to sibling rivalty ... Abraham's eldest son fathered the Arab tribes, but his favorite son [by his official wife] got the inheritance.
And both have claimed moral superiority ever since.

on a serious note ... the Turks still owned and controlled the area when Zionists began to move in around the late 1890s and early 1900s. The ancestors of the present Palestinians were the serfs and employees of the Turks.
Zionists, having mostly come from Europe and since they were sponsored by the European Hebrew community, were relatively well educated and well to do vis-a-vis both their Turkish "overloads" and the local workforce [the Palestinians]. They began to buy land and develop it in European style with better economic success than their overlords or neighbors.
Pressure on other Hebrews in Europe increased again and again in central Europe and some of the refugees joined the Zionist movement in what was then British mandate Palestine. [Some or even many of the original Zionists were active in Britain and the government wasn't inclined to enforce restrictions on immigration.]
World War II, of course, produced a flood of Hebrew refugees from much of Europe and the number of Hebrew settlers in Palestine increased again. Further, they became militant and mounted a guerilla campaign against the British.
As all know, after that European war, the British taste for running the Empire disappeared and previously subject peoples were granted freedom. Freedom came to Palestine in 1948. The armies of the Arab neighbors attacked the provisional Hebrew government of West Palestine [Israel] on the same day the British mandate ended.
After that brief conflict ended in stalemate, with Israel still in existence, Hebrews in the neighboring Arab countries fled for their lives while their neighbors stole their property. Israel took these people in (or at least the ones who survived).
Some of the Palestinians also fled for their lives, however the Arab states refused to take them in and set up the camps instead. [The Palestinians, of course, were of different tribes and -- perhaps worse -- their tribe consisted solely of peons and laborers on the properties of others. Ancient and indeed noble tribes of honest Arab traders and merchants do NOT accept a bunch of rag-tag common laborers into their society. It just isn't done!!]
Israel was won every war since. If they ever lose a war, the Israelis fear that every Hebrew -- man, woman, or child -- in all of Israel will be slaughtered by the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah.
The Arab states have never accepted the Palestinians as an equal tribe, nor allowed them to live freely in 'their' countries.
Meanwhile, those Arabs who stayed in what is now Israel are citizens and vote. Most Arabs in neighboring states either can't vote at all or their votes are meaningless [Syria's 'President' was recently re-elected with 97% of the vote -- he had no opposition as none was permitted. All Syrians are expected to bless the effective Dictator for Life that Nancy Pelosi wants to suck up to.]
Arab citizens of Israel have the highest per capita income of any Arabs anywhere if you except the oil thieves (um, oil "princes").
Meanwhile, the Palestinians are confined into the camps and villages. Their 'economy' is a cruel joke and their future has few or no bright spots.
When you have no hope of things getting better, rage sets in and with rage comes violent attacks against the people you believe are your oppressors.
Since the Palestinians have never been told the truth by anyone they believe [their Arab neighbors lie and lie repeatedly -- as you'd expect since all are dictatorships or single party states and lying is part of how they cling to power], they believe that the Hebrews are the cause of their problems.
Should they ever win and take over, they'll discover -- too late -- that the Hebrews never were the cause of their problems and that, as usual, problems are their own dang fault.
:-)

It is primarily religious. If you are not of the Islamic faith, then you are an infidel. According to some translations of the Koran, Muslims are required to kill all infidels. In other words, some Muslims believe and practice religious intolerance. Hence, we have Muslim terrorists.
The other major factor is the land. Both Islamic and Judeo/Christian religions have their beginnings in the same region. It has been a battleground for centuries.

The war over the Palestinian Region is largely about the control of Jerusalem. Unfortunately for that lovely little city, it is a holy focal point for two major religions.
EDIT:::: The Jews and Arabs have not been fighting for thousands of years. Before Israel was there it was different islamic factions fighting to control the region.

There not muslim, there Jewish, and their living in Palestine. I think that pretty much covers it. I am sure there are some Muslims who don't hate Israel, but good luck finding one.
Alot of the people fighting Israel are Secular nationalists, and not radical islamic extremists, just to make that clear, though it is increasingly going the other way.

Islam teaches that the entire world must be made to worship Allah, those who don't must be killed. Jews are not the only target, in fact historically they've been a fairly minor target. Islam's "favorite" target has been Hindus.. whom they've killed tens ( or even hundreds ) of millions.
This is also not a new thing, Islam has been attacking everybody it has come in contact with since the cult was invented. It is purely religion.

Most of the current territory of Israel is considered as holy by the muslims too, so it's most a religious issue, that's what religions are here, to cause even more problems among humans.

Mostly the land I think. They were fine and lived together peacefully until Israel became a designated state. Israel improved the land immensely, i.e. irrigation, thriving economy and suddenly....all the surrounding muslim states wanted it to be theirs. All the politics and religion problems came later.
Edit: If you look at a satelite map of Israel, you can literally see the borders. Israel is green and the surrounding areas are brown.
