Can someone explain how this person got to be so popular? He is in our faces at every turn - hosting award shows - now he's the next "bachelor!" I don't think he is very articulate or particularly great looking -- so what gives?

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see him fail . . . . I just don't understand his success! Do you???

No I don't either but Merv Griffin was the one giving him his big chance and we know his track record. I think Ryan just got lucky that's all and you have all these girls into Metro sexual guys. I can't see him as the next "bachelor" I certainly won't be watching.

Meow, meow. What a bunch of catty responses to this question.
I think he lucked into being in the right place at the right time. He is very good at what he does and has only gotten better at it as the years have gone by. There are only a handful of hosts as good as him and most of the others are terrible.
I've heard him being on The Bachelor was a rumor, but can't verify that.

I used to dislike him, but he grew on me. I like the way he is nice to the idiots there on American Idol during auditions, but still makes it funny. It takes a special person to be that nice to some of those people, yet keep us entertained! I think he is OK looking, but not gorgeous. He is fast on his feet, quick witted, and certainly a people person. I read that he used to be a real nerd, so it's good to see someone like that turn out to be as popular as him. Is he really the next Bachelor? Geez, I think that would be an incredibly STUPID movie in his career. I though he was a smarter business man than that. That show makes everyone look cheap, slutty and smarmy!

Here's what you need to know about hosts, especially those in the reality genre. Most are cast because they're functional narrators whose personalities are so middling that they won' t outshine the celebs or guests on their programs.

Seacrest is a-ok by me. Wouldn't have been my first choice to host the Emmys, but he seems like a nice enough guy and how can you wish him anything but well?

I think the guy's gonna be the new Merv. I really do. Savvy and always thinking.

He gives really good blowj*bs. Seriously, between the highlights, the capped teeth, the spray-on tan, and the pastel shirts, Ryan Seacrest is almost too gay to function. His name even sounds like a gay pornstar.

I agree with you- he's more annoying and a 'joke' than one of hollywoods usual elite. I think it's hilarious to think of him as the next bachelor---he seems super gay to me! He just seems like one of those guys who ride on the coat tails of the truly talented people. sad.

I guess since American Idol is one of the most veiwed tv shows in America, he's become an icon. His perky personallity is likable and he's kinda funny sometimes.

I don't get it either, all because of American Idol and American Idol is popular....that's it. I don't know what else he does? Come to think of it, who cares.
