The question isn't really about dogfighting, it's about whether Vick ran a betting operation...if he admits to being a "bookie" for dogfighting, he's toast...I am guessing the attorneys deal with the feds is he pleads guilty to the dogfighting charge and they drop any investigation into betting and booking bets, so he still has a chance for Goodell to let him back in after, say, 2 years suspension...There's no question if it was just animal cruelty he would get an opportunity to play again, and should, considering what other players have done and gotten to play again...it's about gambling...

This is an interesting question. I guess the answer depends on your stance on morals. For me personally I HATE WHAT MICHAEL VICK DID! I do think that he deserves some sort of punishment for what he has done. If you do the crime then you should do the time.
I do feel that if a person commits a crime and does something wrong then they deserve what is given to them. However, if somebody does the time and serves their debt to society then they should be able to live a normal life again. Meaning that he should be able to live in a community (without harassment), live a normal life, and the ability to make a living.
Come on lets face it. People do bad things all the time and usually have to be punished for it. But I do beleive that if someone redeems themselves they are entitled to live a normal life. So yes I do think that he should be able to be part of the NFL (considering how the NFL feels of Vick).
Although if he is locked up for 5 years, his career is probably over even if he attempts a comeback. His quarterback skills will probably diminish while in prison.

Oh who knows? I'm sure his playing days will be over in the NFL but I'm sure the state prison football team will have some openings.
With the way celebs get off these days I wouldn't be surprised if he does play again. However, if he does play he becomes a permenant liability for whatever team he is on.
I can almost guarantee that SPCA and PETA will set up protests at every stadium he is at. They will organize boycotts of Vick merchandise and maybe go so far as to block access to games. This will not sit well with fans, or the front office.
Merchandising is what drives the sports business, so if Vick jerseys don't sell and his endorsements go down the drain he will have to find a new line of work. If he does get jail time count on seeing him in a reality series on Spike a year after he gets out. Maybe he can hang out with Danny Bonaduce and Vanilla Ice.

He would have every right to do so. Just like anyone else, he is entitled to making a living. But there are too many factors
1) As a Five year QB, he still had not mastered the position
2) two years from now will he beable to improve or will it take five more years.
3) Are owners willing to deal with the backlash and potential sponsor boycotts
4) if his talents deminish and a team cuts him, will they be accused of not giving him a chance.
5) Michael Vick did this to himself

In pleading guilty, Vick could be facing severe sanctions from the NFL. A federal grand jury indicted him last month on a single count of conspiracy to cross state lines to engage in illegal gambling; to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture; and to buy, transport and receive dogs for animal fighting.
The NFL's anti-gambling policy states that a player can be suspended indefinitely or have his contract terminated if he "knowingly associates with gamblers or gambling activity."
The Falcons also issued a statement today.
"We are certainly troubled with the news today concerning Michael Vick's guilty plea to federal charges. It is our understanding that the terms of Michael's plea will not be available until next Monday, August 27. Additionally, Commissioner Goodell has asked us not to take any action until he has completed his own review of Michael's situation. Accordingly, we will have no further comment until that time."
Put your fork in him , he's done

Mike Vick got a 23 Month sentence starting in December of last year. He still has the potential to play but thats up to the Nfl commisioner. To ad on to that alot of fans kinda hate the guy and what ever team that decides to go with him are gonna hear the mouth of the fans. If he returns alot of nfl analyst SEE HIM BEING USED AS KIND OF A DECOY/SLOT WR/HB. i COMPLETELY AGREE MIKE VICK WAS THE MOST EXCITING PLAYER TO WATCH. And he's great in madden

I think his life is pretty over, at least what he has been used to. He will never return to the NFL, he will never receive any more endorsements, and will not be an analyst with any of the broadcast teams. So what else is there for a guy like him to do to maintain his lifestyle? Plus the Falcons are come looking to get there big time money back. I'll give him a good tip when he delivers my pizza though.

Part of the plea agreement and the light sentence is that he agrees to the gambling part too. That is lifetime ban! Don't feel too sorry for Vick, I would go to jail for a year or two if I had 20 million or so waiting for me when I got out.

Okay I am a dog owner. I love dogs. It is a cruel thing to fight dogs and kill dogs, but everybody deserves a second chance. He is not the first Athlete to commit a crime and goes to jail, and he wont be the last. I think Vick is a Outstanding athlete. If i was an owner. I would give him a second chance. If he is allowed in the NFL again. Someone will pick him up. No dobt in my mind.
