im in america, and i want to call someone in england. i have their cell, its 12 digits long? when she called, i saved the number. i tried calling it, but when i do, a machine says "the number is not in service. check the number. ov8" i think i need to dial some number before the 12 digits. do i need a 1 in front?

please reapond quickly, its 9:30 there and she has kids.

Calling England from a cellphone will cost you TONS of cash. With that in mind, you must dial 011 not 1 for an international number 1 + the number is for North American numbers only.

try dialing "011 44" then the number to get to the UK. but you may need to drop the zero that sometimes is written as (0)

numbers set up like such: 011 44 207 488 3000 but you may have 44 (0) 207 488 3000, then you should drop that (0)

You need our country code - which is 44! And drop the first 0 on her number.
