If you don't want people to know about the things that go on in your life, then don't tell them.

When someone says "You don't know what rough is..." or something to that extent, just say to them "You haven't lived my life, so you wouldn't know what I've been through." and leave it at that.

If you have a lot of drama with extra baggage then consider
your motive for telling him, do you want to drop the baggage?
start fresh with a new outlook on life, or do you enjoy the shock you give people when you tell them about your world in crisis? Honesty is a powerful truth that is meaningless without
change. if you tell the person about your issues is it that you really want him to know or you want him to rescue you from your never ending saga? you must determine what you tell this guy if it will do more harm than good , and why the damage has caused you to do the things you do, seek change and be desperate enough to make it happen. Today!
is good day to start.

Everyone goes through rough times but it is not necessary to share them with the world, so to speak. And no one is perfect. If your rough times can seriously affect your relationship, then you have a duty to be upfront. But I would hold back from unburdening yourself to this guy. Men can be overwhelmed with women sharing everything about themselves. I am not saying lie or hide but this boy can't change your past history, he can't solve your issues and it is not his responsibility to make you feel better about whatever it is you are concerned about. Relax and enjoy the relationship, take it one day at a time and stop thinking about the past - move on with your life and focus on this new relationship.

If people turn away from you when you tell your secrets to them, you best keep them inside and try to forget them.
