I would not suggest you use chemicals as you dunno how it will affect your plants.

Also if you have lots and kill them with chemicals then you will have alot of rotting snails in your tank polluting the water.

Id try some of these tips 1st.

Get a lettuce leaf and put it in boiling water for a few min the place under a rock in tank over night and then in the morning it will have the snails on it and then just remove it.

Feed less, your snails wont live without food, if you have lots of snails then you are possibly feeding 2 much.

Vac the gravel well, small babies snails will get sooked up in the gravel cleaner.

Get a some snail eating fish like a clown loach it will help keep the numbers under control.

Trumpet snails can be good as they dont eat live plants only the dead bits and they will burrow through the gravel aerating it and eaten all the crap, they can be unsightly if you have lots of them
Good luck

Chemicals are one option, but the other option is to remove all the fish, plants, and filters from your tank, and then add 1 cup of salt per 10 gallons.

EDIT: Lettuce will never remove the snails completely, it will just lower their numbers. Trumpet Snails have the ability to reproduce asexually, so they can produce babies with only one snail. Salt, or snail killing chemicals are your best options...

EDIT 2: Clown Loaches get up to a foot long (probably too large for your tank). Avoid fish that you would get just to do a job, get fish that you like, and then do your job and keep the tank running.
