The East German Trabant. It is generally regarded as the worst car ever made. I've ridden in one, its true. The Yugo is a luxury car by comparison.

I agree with Steve and Fred. Internationally, the Trabant set new standards for inefficiency, pollution, modernization resistance and unreliability. This East German manufactured car was exported to other Eastern Bloc countries during its surprisingly long production history. Many say that it typified the Communist regimes of Eastern Europe at that time. However, I am sure there are Trabant auto clubs who love the cars most people would classify as good only for solid fill.

However, the worst car (for its day) in North America was the Yugo.

There have been some pretty crook "economy" cars over the years and some of the early cheap models knocked out by Morris in England, Ford, also in England and several other makers were quite dire. Look at the Ford Popular of the early 1950s. The worst recent model seems to have been the Trabant. Australia's worst was probably the Lightburn Zeta built for a while by a washing machine company in the early 1960s.

Definitley the Yugo. It's made out of leftover parts of the Fiat.

I would have to say, at me for least, it would be a tie between the Chevy Corvair, and the Nash Rambler.
The Corvair could kill you with its weird steering (Ralph Nader wrote his most famous book about this car).
The Nash Rambler made a Chevy Chevette looke like speedster, and it could get stuck in a wet pile of leaves.

Despite the fact there were 3 million built, I would cast a vote for the Trabant.

How do you double the value of a Yugo?

Fill it with gas!

Why do Yugos have rear window defrosters?

To keep your hands warm when you push it!!!

Without a doubt, the biggest piece of junk in my lifetime, in the US anyway.

Probably the YUGO, which was basically a Fiat under the sheet metal.
