I had a blast at the Medieval Times in Dallas!!! I loved how we were split into teams, I even got my picture with our blue knight.
I was surprised we didn't get any silverware but it was fun to just eat like barbarians and not even think of what people thought. We were all wearing cardboard crowns, even my parents...it was such a blast!
Best "dinner theater" I've ever been to! Just would like to add that there is no way there's jousting in at a civil war themed dinner theater. So it is not true if you've seen one, you've seen them all!

It depends what you mean. As far as I know there have always been people with different roles/equipment/training on the battlefield. Medieval armies would have had archers, spearmen, light horse, heavy horse etc... fighting in seperate groups. And that's before you start looking at specialised forces like sappers etc... Ditto the romans: the famous legionary units were supplemented with auxiliary units of cavalry, archers or slingers etc... So in that sense there were separate branches. However, medieval military organisation wasn't nearly as centralised as the modern equivalent. The vast majority of soldiers/fighters were either mercenaries or retainers of particular nobles. In this sense there was no 'archer corps' for example, with a unified identity, sense of loyalty or training standard. The romans, were of course more centralised in their organisation. They had a genuine professional military which maintained broadly similar equipment and training across the whole empire (at least for some periods.) However, my understanding is that legions were raised/recruited as individual units with auxiliaries assigned to the legion in question. in addition I believe in some periods rich individuals would sometimes pay for the creation and maintenance of a legion. Couple this with societal factors and you will often find that soldiers of all sorts had far more loyalty to their individual commanders than to the state or the army in general or their particular specialisation. (Hence all the generals who became emperors.) I hope this helped

I have been to the one in Dallas and a copycat one Western style in Branson, MO
Both were fun but - food was good. I won't say excellent on either account - but something different and fun to do.

thumbs up to Mel. We went to the one in Dallas too. We were in the yellow section. Food wasn't great but we went for the entertainment anyway. Can't wait to take my son there.

I saw the one in Las Vegas. It was identical to the one in Myrtle Beach except it was civil war battle. So if you've seen one, you seen them all. Even the food was the same.
