I have a PS2 and am looking for something interesting to play. I like RPGs that are more adventurous than just fighting endless monsters. I enjoyed Bully, The Bard's Tale, GTA. I wasn't so fond of Prince of Persia, Baldur's Gate or the Final Fantasy series. I'm kinda old school, I loved the first Zelda. Any suggestions are appreciated!!

God of War is similar in a lot of ways to Zelda. This adventure game has you taking on one enemy at a time kind of keeping you in a strategic mode rather than button mashing. Instead of items, you have special moves (not unlike a fighting game) at your disposal which can help you accomplish different things or beat different types of enemies. The game even has platforming elements in it. You can probably find it used for around 15 USD or 20 USD (it's cheap because it's sold over a million copies).
I do have to warn you though, it is rated M for a good deal of mature content.
Since the PS2 is backwards compatible though, I would also recommend Vagrant Story for the PS1. Now graphically, this game won't compete with newer titles, but the gameplay is very enjoyable and (I feel) runs in the same spirit as the Legend of Zelda.

I'll recommend an action RPG that is unique. It's called Dark Cloud 2 (Dark Chronicle outside of the USA). It of course has you battling monsters, in a targeting style very similar to Zelda games. But there is so much more to it than that. You build towns, you can play a minigame similar to golf, you can fish, and you can add to your weapons to watch them evolve and grow stronger. I recommend at least giving this a rent, this is a little-known, but absolutely awesome game. Here's a link to an IGN review:

i think of you will like lost Odyssey, it incredibly is a turn based RPG, so it isn't very unique, however the tale is astounding, and it incredibly is like 40 hours long. It jogged my memory of very final delusion in a manner with the characters, and it incredibly is incredibly complicated and takes it slow to conquer. it incredibly is for Xbox 360, yet i don't comprehend if it incredibly is for PS3 or not, yet purchase a 360 for this recreation, you will incredibly relish it.

have u tryed final fanasty 12 its not like the other games i like it more but if u dont like that get ratchet and clank up your arsenal its fun,
