I think that the word "genitals" is the commonly accepted phrase in most situations. Although, if this is a college paper, then using the proper name for each part of the genital anatomy would not be inappropriate. For example, you may need to single out the difference between the attention to detail in the testicles as opposed to the penis to show the artists fascination with potential rather than accomplished fact (since a sperm is a potential human, not one in actuality). Well I will think on that for you. I like cockroach and Uranus. My mother used to say: "son of a biscuit eater." Actually she usually swore like a sailor but on occasion she would say son of a biscuit eater.
