They lack personal responsibility and accountability. In their book, the more handouts they get from the government, the better they are.

Because over 50% of people get significant income from the government and that feels really great to them. And our government is Socialist, the federal govt increased in size by 30% the last 12 years and is picking up speed in the new budget with way more spending than the president requested. And the president is behind that huge increase in the federal govt the last five years. So the momentum for our country is picking up speed toward massive increases in government spending and entitlements. That is why Socialism feels so right. Too bad for the poor who need jobs. Socialist France has double the unemployment and suicide rate of the U.S. and is very tough place for the poor to find work. Their deficit is much bigger than ours relative to size of their economy so their govt has a decreasing amount to pass out in handouts--this espeically puts a sqeeze on the poor, hence the suicide rate. Not a good place to live.

Socialism is alive and well in this country. It is just a word to describe certain economic policies and is not the opposite of democracy. During the cold war, propaganda made it seem as if it was unAmerican to even utter the word, but that is silly. We should be free in this nation to discuss all political and economic options and then vote on them democratically, all the while adhering to the Constitution. Sometimes socialism might work to solve certain problems, other times it might not. We have to be able to discuss these things rationally.
