The government had a slam-dunk case especially after his four co-defendants turned on him.. I think he should get 18 months and the $250,000 fine. He is a bold face liar.
To Janywb:
What don't you get. They had testimony that Vick was at some dog fights. He practically financed the whole operation and killed a few dogs himself.
As far as hunting, there is a legal season to hunt certain animals. Why? Because their population needs to be thinned out in order to maintain a healthy environment for the animals. There is only so much food to go around and such actions prevents sickly, diseased and starving animals.
As far as Vick, he really needs to be admitted to a mental institution because of the cruelty to the animals. That's just sick.

It's a shame. He has been a role model for so many kids out there and he should have known better. He knew he wanted to play football this season and go to training camp and he should NOT have done these horrible things. The authorities must have a lot of evidence against him and his so called friends sang like canaries so quickly and turned against him. He could have set up scholarships for poor kids in Atlanta and around the country or could have done other positive things. Instead, he does terrible acts against innocent animals with his money, influence and fame. He ran with the wrong crowd and one who only cared for him for his money. His family probably knew but loved the lavish gifts and money he lavished on them. The only good thing from this horrible situation is that maybe there will be stiffer sentences for people who abuse and/or kill animals and maybe dogfighting will stop in this country! It's a bad situation and his career is in serious jeopardy due to his despicable actions.

He needs to plead guilty. Michael Vick is an idiot for what he did. I think that he isn't going to get the maximum sentence. I think that he going to get away with it like every other celebrity.

Hey janeywb--how many times in 10 minutes are you going to paste the EXACT same response to 5 different questions about Michael Vick?
He's going to prison. He'll be lucky to sign with a CFL team when he's released.

People...
In the court of public opinion, the allegations of dog-killing outweigh everything else.
In the court of LAW, Vick is being convicted because gambling, racketeering, illegal interstate commerce, and sponsoring an animal with intent to fight are AGAINST THE LAW.
Period.
This ain't about whether hunting or killing animals is right or wrong. This is about the law, he broke it, he will pay for it, the end.

Cruelty to animals should be a serious crime regardless of who commits the crime. Gambling is a serious offense, especially for a professional athlete - since the issue of paying off an athlete and fixing a game can arise.
Too many famous people and professional athletes, especially black athletes have gotten away with serious crimes (Ray Lewis, O.J. Simpson) while ordinary people get punished for far lesser offenses.
The intense cruelty to animals caused by Vick, his thugs, and his Bad Newz Kennel needs to be severely punished - even if he is a great football player. Being an athlete or famous person is no excuse for violence, crime, or aggression.
Too many shootings by rappers, murders by movie stars and athletes, cruelty, violence etc have gone unpunished.

I'm a big Falcons fan but deep inside I know Mike's guilty. I can't believe these millionaires just throw away their lives for nothing. I heard he was betting $40,000 on dogfights. That is pointless because he already makes millions in the NFL.

Study after study prove people who engage in acts of animal cruelty escalate in cruelty to people. To say we should ignore it is to ignore his propensity to torture humans.
Vick was given the winning genetic lottery ticket. He blew it! It's time for him to pay.

What the hell is wrong with the America? It is amazing how America loves dogs more than human beings themselves.
Trust me, I love dogs, but the punishment Vick is getting for just owning a home where dog fighting took place is RIDICULOUS!! Think about it, people hunt and kill animals all
the time. Hell, they even have hunting season.
So you mean to tell me that its okay to kill a bear or dear, but if you kill a dog it means jail time?
It really doesn't make sense to me.
I truly believe that PETA and the media are trying to crucify Vick. Just earlier this year 2 other athletes were caught dog fighting but they weren't convicted and the media DID NOT tear them apart. Its like it didn't even happen.
Basically, all I am saying is killing animals should be illegal across the board. Not just with dogs. And not just with star athletes..BUT PERIOD. If a person kills a cat, they should be convicted. If a person kills a bird, they should be convicted. If a person kills a dog, they should be convicted.
WHATS REALLY SCARY IS THAT AMERICA THINKS ITS OK FOR A PERSON TO KILL AN UNBORN CHILD (ABORTION), BUT IF A PERSON KILLS A DOG..ITS A CONVICTION?!!
OUR PRIORITIES ARE ALL WRONG!!!
