It's called 'Transference'
They blame God for everything because they don't feel the need for personal accountability so they pass the blame onto somebody else and since God seems like a convenient source to blame, they blame him.
So they are transferring the blame for everything that goes wrong in their life along with everything they do wrong in their life onto God but yet when good things do happen they themselves take all the credit.
But these people do this because they don't know God and don't want to.
But did you know the day before the bridge collapsed Conda Lisa Rice was telling Israel how they need to give up more land to the Palestinians?
You have to admit that that is an interesting coincidence.
And only a week after Rice and Bush pressured Israel into giving over the Gaza Strip to the Palestinians Hurricane Katrina tore through New Orleans completely destroying it.
I think our Government should leave Israel alone.

Saying it's an act of God is a way to create hope in the eyes of those effected by the disaster. I do not think that God is out to make these people miserable at all - if anything he is out to teach us how to better respond to the needs of others, and how to react under pressure. You are stupid for not seeing the underlying meaning in such a phrase.
Get over yourself and your science. when you can prove to me that there is no God, then I may consider your argument, but until then, i will continue to believe in the possibility that there is more than humans, and nature involved in our daily lives . . .

God reasons or facilitates all issues that happen in His universe. He facilitates the organic direction of activities to happen as you suggested, yet he's completely interior His rights and has the flexibility to end any experience from happening that He needs.

An "act of God" has a very specific legal meaning dating back to colonial times in this country. It's still used to describe any unforeseen/unusual acts of nature and/or any and all unexplainable/supernatural events (to limit liability under contract law).
We use latin, too. Talk about dated phrases!!

It's just a euphamism to imply any natural event which results in property damage and/or injury. Switch to decaf.

To belittle someone for their beliefs is wrong. You don't have to agree with them. For some believing it is an act of "God" brings them comfort.
