In my experience Sparknotes.com was the best. I had to read Scarlette Letter for a class (but I didn't) and Spark notes was as close as you can get to reading the book for me. Spark notes has a very in depth analysis of every chapter and charactor analysis, which is what i neded most.

By far the best one would be the one stored in you cerebral cortex after you read the book.

No one can interpret a book the way you would if you read it yourself. That is the beauty of reading. Art is TRULY in the eye (and mind) of the beholder.
