Books or even movies about witches.. nothing cheesy but where everyone is of magical descent but there are those who are of higher power (like rulers) ??

Books about witches can be almost anything. I prefer to read books based on actual witches and not ones who ride on broomsticks and twitch their noses. Of course, it takes a lot of research to write about the true witches, so most people write the broom riding and nose twitching kind. Pax - C

Ralph came up with some good suggestions, although i don't recall you asking for them, regardless instead of The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot try The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot. It's about ghosts.

I like Maggie Shayne, Mercedes Lackney(Vadlemar seris but have added some others to my wish list) Sherlock Holmes, V.C. Andrews( fav seris landry) Memoriars of a Geisha, Susan Sizemore, Victoria Holt(Oldies but I still like them anyhow) Harry Potter(like everyone else in the world) Sue Grafton.
I sort of like Carrie by Steven King but the girl dies at the end making me sad so I thats why it's on my sort of like it list. I don't like real bloody gory books.
