We got a Compaq TFT 1501 monitor but it does not come with a power supply. Is there a certain name for this kind of cord? Is there a general kind of cord you can use? It says 12V, 1.8A.

A monitor SHOULD have a power unit, no power unit indicates a possible stolen model.

Basically though as long as the PSU can supply 12V at 1.8A with the correct plug size and polarity for the monitor it will work.

Note that supplies that do more than 1A are expensive
