Yes. Very hard. I have done the same thing, and also went to a boarding school far away at the time of the move so I never got to say any good byes, and yes, it's very difficult. Just try and keep in touch anyway you can and try and visit whenever is possible.

I come from a military family and we always moved away just after getting settled in to a new house. We never really had close childhood friends due to the moving. The thing that gets me nowadays is I get to hear my wife tell me,"yeah, shes my girlfriend that I went to 1st grade with". I don't have any friends that I grew up with hanging out with me, that's what I find hard to accept. Thats the hard part, to me anyways!!!

I have friends after 40 years of moving about because of my fathers employment, then because of mine. You have to put forth an effort to keep friendship alive, but you will meet new friends where ever you go if you try. You can keep friends and contact them through letters, telephone, and e mail or text. You will know when to let them go, they will tell you they are sick of hearing from you, but I do not think this will happen to you. Just go on with your life and find new friends and you will have both new AND old friends forever.

I know how you feel I've just moved and I'm going to miss all of my friends. It's going to be kinda hard but then you have all year to make new friends and get used to the place. Good luck!!!
