Wow! You are soooo lucky! Do you realize how many babies sleep too much during the day and then want to stay awake all night long? It is difficult to get then back onto a proper schedule which allows them to sleep at night. Babies often get their days and nights mixed up.
It is totally normal that your newborn doesn't sleep much in the day! In fact, it is a really good and healthy thing. My son was exactly the same way, but my daughter was the opposite and still is at twenty two! lol She slept all day long and then wanted to play all night long. Boy was that difficult.
Be gratefull she is sleeping so well at night. She will sleep when she needs to, don't you worry about that. She may turn out to be a child who just doesn't need as much sleep as others. That is just fine, don't worry. Some people need less sleep than others. My husband is fine with five to six hours of sleep a night, but I need eight to nine if I am going to be any good for anything much! Ha-ha!
So, don't worry about her, she is just fine. Like I said, you are lucky it isn't the other way around. Congratulations on your new baby and much joy always!

Absolutely. The longer they stay awake during the day, the more they will sleep at night. Also, once she begins to be more active, she will be more tired and require longer naps. So, let her be. It will be better for you. I know you did not ask for this, but can I give you a suggestion. Try to not get her 'used' to anything for her to be able to sleep. Try to see if she sleeps without the vibration. One: she will eventually think she "needs" it to sleep and what about when the batteries run out or she begins to sleep in her bed? Then she wont be able to sleep as well. Two: the vibration at long periods of time is not necessarily good for their little body and brain. As for everything else though, good luck and if she sleeps long periods at night, be thankful. It definatley will not hurt her!

Is she ever cranky? If not then I would not worry. Every baby is different in how much sleep they need...just like the attention some babies need more than others. As long as everything else about her is healthy then I would not worry too much. But, if it does end up worrying you that she might not be getting enough sleep then you can call and speak with one of the nurses at her pediatrician's office. Sometimes as mothers all we need is a little reassurance that we are doing a great job and that our baby is fine. I am sure she is ok. Congrats and good luck!

It's no biggie-well, it's hard on YOU but she will get what she needs on her own terms.
My 2nd daughter would only doze during the day and usually just during nursing so I could never get ANYthing done! But she became a great night sleeper. Now she only takes one set nap a day (you may want to try this-put her down within 2 hours of waking for the night-babies LOVE this often overlooked nap time), in the mornings.

I think it's a good thing! I think you would much rather get your sleep at night right?! My son was the same way and I would worry too, but then i realized that he was just a great night slepper and I didn't really need to take naps during the day! I wouldn't worry too much. Babies sleep when they're tired, eat when they're hungry... t hey know what they want!

I felt like my daughter never slept during the day-she was so alert from day one. She is 27 months now and perfectly healthy and still hates to go to sleep and miss anything! As long as she is acting happy on that amount of sleep and you are providing her with a good comfortable place to sleep (and it sounds like you are) she will be fine. My daughter slept during the day if she laid on my chest on the couch so if you want to try to get her to sleep more you could try that. Bonus is that Mommy gets to nap too! Just make sure she can't roll off and fall or get smothered. Good luck!

yes because now your baby is starting to develop habits. She is learning that Daytime means being awake and Night time means being asleep. This is a good thing, try to play with her, sing to her, and talk to her, so that she does stay awake more in the day. That way, she will be sleeping through the night before you know it!

She should be fine. If she like to be held a lot during the day (and what baby doesn't) I would put her in a front carrier if I needed both hands. She is also old enough to start really enjoying her play gym.
