is it because you disagree with the answer or simply because you don't like the persons previous answers or opinions?
Personally I only thumbs down an answer that is abusive or an answer that is wrong or something. Recently though I have seen that most of the anti mccanns have been recieving thumbs down when they have given really good answers. Are people holding personal grudges on here? I'm not bothered by the thumbs down by the way just interested to see if anyone wants to admit they thumbs down the answerer rather than the answer!

I'm with you carr,
I do thumbs down abusive answers
aside from that everyone is entitled to their opinions as long as they express them without being offensive . . .

People are def holding grudges, that's what I meant in my post earlier, I get TD for sayin yes sometimes and people have followed me to other sections too! I should laugh really . . .
have a star!

From what I've read on here, it does seem that some people hold grudges, and give TD to the person, rather than what they are saying at that particular time. Personally, I only TD if it is abusive or irrelevant or just plain stupid, but not because of who is asking the question or just because I disagree with the answer.

Scrolling down previous answers, there are a lot of thumbs down when people are just giving their answers. Why?

I've got 2 already!!!!

Well I am new here and I haven't thumb down anybody yet, but if I do it will be for those who give answers that do not relate to the question for example someone giving smart answer just to get the points. I would also give thumbs down to anyone that is being very abusive.

i agree with you Carr51 i only thumbs down the abusive ones too. I often wont agree with some answers but wouldn't give a thumbs down for it. I have notice though a lot of answers & not neccesarily M'Cann questions get thumbs down & I've often wondered why when they have been good answers.
It could be as you say personal grudges. It's a free country & we all have freedom of speech & we also have our different opinions but unless the answer is abusive, offensive or racist they dont deserve a thumbs down.

I only use the thumbs down if I really disagree with the answer.

When I give a thumbs down it is in response to the answer, not the answerer as such. I wouldn't give a thumbs down if someone had written a perfectly good answer just because I don't like them - that seems a bit childish.

People use thumbs up and down for whatever reason they choose. Yahoo Answers doesn't make any rules for their use. I believe the thumbs format was created in order to cut down on the abusive and non responsive answers that might otherwise clutter up a question.

Don't like the answer? Thumbs down, and go on to the next question. Disagree? Thumbs down. Answer is just dead wrong? Thumbs down.

On the other hand, if I click onto a question that I feel I can answer, a thumbs up serves just as well if someone has already stated what I was going to write.

For me, I use the thumbs down almost exclusively for abusive language and for answers that are clearly wrong, or not responsive.

I think lots of people give a thumbs down without even reading the answer! They have a grudge because of opinions given on the Mccann's. Childish isn't it?

I Never use the thumbs down, dont think it should exist.

I will thumb up a good answer or tottally ignore a bad one.

No need for thumbs down, people have a right to say what they want within reason, if they are abussive then some else can report them for violation.

I tend to thumb down a question when it's abusive or clearly wrong. However if an answer is good I will thumb it up regardless of whether I like the user or not.

I can value someone else's opinion if it is well thought out even if my own opinion differs to theirs. Most of my contacts are varied users and any one topic we could have totally different opinions but in another subject I could agree with them.

I have to admit there is one user on here that I am always tempted to thumb down as she is a nasty piece of work but I do resist..lol I do believe some people on here hold grudges as how dare we disagree with them.
