I really don't think that's what's on their mind at the time.

Personally, I think people *believe* they can get away with it because on a strictly rational level....not an emotional or intuitive one mind you....but in terms of strict logic, they *get it* better than their victims or better than society does.
The word order is backwards. A sexual assault is in fact *an Assault* first, that just so happens to *involve* sexual conduct. The people doing this get this....they understand that this is an act of violence *first* so they are more likely to *use* violence, or threats of *more* violence, first to cover up what they did.
And in the short-term at least, this tactic works because everyone *else* around the predator is *not* a flaming, out-of-control sociopath who is totally out of touch with the *emotional* reality of being a human being who *hurts*. That's the thing. The predator is calculating while his victim, the sexual assault survivor, is too busy feeling the bitter pain.
It works because we're still human, and by and large, he's given that up. Which also explains why there's that lack of knowledge too. Call it testosterone poisoning if you must--there are some studies that strongly link high testosterone levels to aggression--but the point is, for some people, of the predatory sort, there is a failure to not just feel, but to *feel for* others. There is a lack of any ability to empathize in a genuine way. They fake it to be sociable and get specific favors done, but in truth....the average predator has *no idea* how other people feel around him, and the average *active* predator either doesn't care that he doesn't know....or just plain doesn't *know* that he doesn't know.
In short, for whatever reason, the emotional side of being human fails to develop and engage in any meaningful way within the brain of a violent, abusive sexual predator.
I know this because my own father was a predator. He beat and raped my mother, my sisters and myself for years, leaving us all damaged and living lesser lives for his trouble....and last time I heard anything about him, he *still* didn't get it, in his 60s, after having his testicles and prostrate removed *to treat cancer*.
It's the product of a fundamentally flawed brain. There's not really any convincing or rehabilitating someone like that, they're too far gone. -_- All you can do is *control* these people until the day they *die*, and are no longer a threat to *us humans*.
But don't just take my word for it. Let me find some links for you. Be right back.

They think that they can get away with it because very often they do. And some of them believe they are above the law. One of my children was abused. I suspected the person was not arrested by the police because he was one of their own. Anyway, since his death it has become known that many more than my child were victims, including some of his young female close relatives. He was not concerned with whether it was right or damaging. For him it was mainly an abuse of power, which was also displayed in arrogant behaviour with other people.
His death was no loss. It is said that with time, we only remember the good bits. Nobody remembers anything nice about this man.

I think if a person either has it in them to commit such a crime or not. However, I do not think they are thinking about getting caught at the time they are doing it. I imagine it is most often impulsive and the perpetrator is not thinking about getting caught. Controlling the victim and pulling it off is the main objective at the time of the assault.
The exception of course would be serial rapists who seek out victims. In this case, the more they get away with it, the more they feel that they can't be caught.

I think it all boils down to mental illness because no one in their right mind would think they could get away with it or in any way think they are right to do it, especially paedophiles. The truth is that there is not enough help for people with mental health issues and they are usually ignored or considered 'crazy' its sad but true there are few organisations in place to help such people.

In most cases, they themselves where sexually assaulted when they where young and the perpetrator was never punished. It is learned behavior. It is all about power and control. I doubt they concider the consiquences of their behavior and those that do, push those thoughts away.

no, they don't know it's not right, they do it because they are sociopaths and have no feelings or empathy for their victims. They have absolutely no comprehension of right and wrong. They think that they are always right. They are usually very intelligent, well-spoken, and well-liked people, who are more believable than the victims. They have no compassion for you or anyone else. If they do something "nice" for you, in the end it merely served a purpose for them, not you. best wishes. they are not bad people, they are evil.

its hard to prove that's why think about it any one can say they been raped but how do you go about proving it or when some one is just getting back at an ex half the people who have been rape don't come forward and its not just rape children don't say any thing when they get molested by adults the police need to make it easier for people to come forward then they would get away with it less

I would like to think they can't get away with it. Those that do it are probably so selfish and psychotic they have no consideration for the impact it will have on the woman. There should be firmer sentences for sexual crimes. That would soon make them think twice.
