This sounds like another urban myth. I'm quite sure that the
number of spiders swallowed by the average human during
any given night is both very small and quite unknown. How many times have you heard of anyone's watching to see whether a sleeping person swallows a spider? A spider is not going to crawl into someone's mouth even if it is open, and can't do so if it is not open. The probability of having a
spider enter the mouth of a sleeping person inside a house
on any given night is very close to zero. How close it's
impossible to say.

The spider eating thing must be a myth. Most of the time, most people sleep with their mouths closed, and it is in spiders instincts not to be eaten by predators. So a spider would have to fall from the ceiling into your open mouth. which cant happen very often.

There is no real way to measure how many spiders, lice, fleas, or even dust mites we do eat by accident (I never thought otherwise) we do eat in our lifetime....
There are lots of variables
Spiders tend to live in dark, fresh spaces that resemble the conditions of the night however, most of them do not have nocturn habits, such as scorpions and other insects.- True they hide in secluded dark and fresh spaces,,,,but,,,night habits???....that would be far fetched...
Human lifespan is not the same...some of us live 100 years, other live painfully, a very short life...
Some people do sleep with the mouth open, however, it has not been determined whether or not, spiders are scared away by snoring....(maybe they are deaf, aonly God knows)..and how many potential innocent spider eaters actually snore.....
By the way...what size of spiders???
The house brown spider is bigger than a common fly, and there are microscopic (arantidium medurans) that are only 0,5 millimiters in lenght ......who has taken the serendipity to count such bugs entering our mouths hypothetically????
We need a very depressed scientist to carry out such task...
The answer would be ....maybe a thousand spiders...and we dont even realize about that....they might even be nutritious (are made of proteins anyway)´´´´
Nice dreams..
Sleep well...

Dont know the amount, but they are looking for water, Same as when they fall in the bath, if you are worried about this leave a small bowl of water near your bed, the spiders will go to this instead,as they are not particulary fond of our body heat anyway.
Dont worry too much as normal British house spiders are not poisonous just extra protein!!!!
BY the way those who doubt...I have woken up on two occasions ...one with a spider in my mouth the other time a moth, and yes I had chewed them a wee bit before I realised!!!! true....
And Happi.....below on YA, my house is very clean!!!!

I think this is doubtful. The only reason I can think of for a spider to go near your mouth is for moisture. Now I have never woken up spitting a spider out of my mouth and I have never dreamed of having something alive in my mouth either. When I feel a need to urinate during sleep, I often dream of finding and using a urinal (luckily without wetting the bed) so I imagine that having a spider in the mouth would stimulate a dream of having something in my mouth.

No its a myth. Even if a spider was on your face next to your mouth it would'nt go inside. Spiders need a safe place, and the action of you inhaling and exhailing would be enough to deter it.
The Natural History Museum website has a link to a site that answers this type of question.

Spiders live in their webs up above our beds.NO! It can only
happen accidentally when it lost its grip and fall directly into one's open mouth.More over, only very few people do sleep with their mouths open, usually when drunk or under stress.
It is most important to keep our rooms clean and tidy.
