Steam heat USE to be a good thing, now days with all the energy eff furnaces on the market it is cheaper to heat with gas , or oil,
the cost to set a steam heat unit up would out weigh the cost of a good furnace, plus you would have to have a boiler inspector to check it out,

The steam running through a steam radiator's system still has to be heated up. That takes some form of energy, such as burning oil or gas, or water running through electrical heat exchangers.
