I'll try to keep it simple...
Luck is having something go your way when you hoped it to, didn't expect it to go your way.
Of course, we have to be aware of something going our way for us to label it as luck or lucky.
For example, if you have a lucky number, 15, and something happens at 11:15 or on the 15th of the month, then that reinforces the "lucky" number. However, if the same thing happened on another day, it generally doesn't register. The same with the "unlucky" number 13.
Luck is what we make it to be. If we make note of it.

Luck is a superstition. There is no such thing as luck.
Timing sometimes comes into play. Otherwise, there is only proper planning, proper execution and good judgment when making decisions.

.....for the most part - it is one's state of mind
To me,,, luck is:
hitting green lights while driving
being there at the right time to watch a baby take its first steps
finding a parking spot near the front when it is raining
going to the store for something and finding it on sale
being born with eyes that see and ears that hear
witnessing a rainbow
being able to catch a glimpse of a deer
luck - is being born and each moring you open your eyes.....
