Pornography encourages the objectification of the human form and the trivialisation of sex, sexual inter-course and intimate bonding.
Would it not be fair to say that we would live in a better society if it was not for pornography, and through pornographies objectification and trivialisation of what should be an intimate act between two people who love each other, is it not also fair to say that it encourages sexual predatory and deviant perverseness.
By banning pornography would we not be making our society a safer place for both ourselves, our children and our families, and if the answer to this is yes – Then why has it not been banned already
I would love to hear your views on the matter

How does adult pornography hurt anyone? If you don't like it don't watch it.
People are always frightened by the unknown. In American culture sex is seen as an evil thing. If we were more open with our children about sex many of American social issues wouldn't even exists. In the society we live in I had to think up a nickname for my daughter's vagina, because if we were out somewhere and a two year old said something about her vagina I can only imagine the looks I would get.
I get so confused at why American culture tries to make us ashamed of our bodies. Adult pornography is just a form of entertainment. The people involved in providing this entertainment are adults and those who watch it have to either go into the closed room to rent, into the porn store to buy or purchase it through their own dish or cable. It's not out in the open like many other things that can harm you, but because our society says it's bad it is.
I am not personally a fan of porn, I think of sex as something much more intimate between my partner and I. However, if someone wants to watch it let them, I don't want someone telling I can't watch BIG LOVE anymore because American Society doesn't like the message it gives. It's only entertainment and we all like to be entertained in different ways.

I think the majority of porn out there is crap and ranges from boring to disturbingly dissociated from reality. But porn is Real, in the sense that it is created by people, purchased by people who want it and if it looks "trivializing," it's because that's how people feel about sex.
Porn is not some amorphous evil that does anything of its own accord. It can't encourage predatory sexual behaviors or so called "deviant perverseness" (a concept I don't believe exists)--what it does do is reflect people's feelings about sexuality.
On another note, I think porn can be amazing--hot, exciting, beautiful and a wonderful way to explore and share fantasies and enjoy ones own sexuality.

I agree with you that much porn does encourage objectification of the human form and trivializes the sacred act of sex. But what about the porn that doesn't?
I enjoy the type of porn that features real-life couples expressing their intimacy, love, and desire for one another- like Tony Comstock's films. Amateur porn done with a camcorder by real-life couples, solo masturbation scenes, and whatnot- those things turn me on, and to me, they just treat sex positively, rather than negatively.
And moreover, where would we draw the line if we were to ban porn? I'm just curious to hear your thoughts.

I disagree with you because we don't live in some crummy uptight dictatorship or religious theocracy. In a free country, people are free to enjoy the natural beauty of people having the cheap, dirty sex that they wish they were having. It's the American way! Are you a communist?
No one is forced to watch it, and if you don't like it, you can simply not watch it. Simple, huh?

i disagree...
The reason porn exists is because we refuse to have frank and open discussions about sex and sexuality.......people talk to kids about sex as far as don't do it.....
Does anyone talk to the husband and wife to be, about sex....and what to expect....People are grossed out bodily functions, we can't even look at our naked bodies without being ashamed....
This attitude is why pornography exists.....ban porn and we might as well go back to the dark ages...but speak directly about sex to everyone...and porn has no reason to exist
----i noticed i got two thumbs down....its ok really....but i did read what the person posted about Ted Bundy and porn....I also read somewhere else what he said about his Dad and the way he dealt with failed relationships....he says a lot of things...Ted was a smart man...and he knew how to manipulate people up until the end.

Sounds good to me. If I wasn't convinced of this before seeing Ted Bundy's final interview, I sure was afterwards.
So in love: Read here how pornography hurts people:
