I know it probably messed up my phone...I dropped it in the water as I was getting a pedicure today, so the water was soapy and oily. But I was just curious how many people's phones actually worked after it got wet and how long it took the phone to dry out until it was usable again.
The phone is an Env. If anyone has had similar experience please let me know if your phone ever worked again.

Thanks.

I sat it out in the sun and it's actually working again. Thanks for all the good advice! I'm happy I don't have to get a new phone quite yet. =)

Make sure you remove the battery with the back off and let the phone air dry or place fan blowing on it, no heat.
Usually if it was a quick dip the phone will recover after a few days, but you will probably need a new battery.

Tip: some cell phones and batteries now have a small white dot sticker placed on them, this is so that the cell phone companies know if your phone has been exposed to water or not.It turns pink or red if it has gotten wet.If you bring it in to replaced this is the first thing they look for.

Not too sharp on how the oil and soap will act on your phones delicate insides, however I will give the best tip I can. This may be too late for you but may help anyone that reads this in the future. This HAS worked before on many occasions!

1. Remove battery IMMEDIATELY! And do NOT try to operate it.

2. The slow dry..... Hair dryer on low for an hour or so. Set it under a very warm halogen lamp. Use your imagination. Oven on low has even helped in the past.

3. Give it a try.......When you are more than positive that all water has probably been evaporated from the inside of the phone. Reinsert battery and give it a go. (Keep fingers crossed) LOL.

Hope this helps.

I was talking on my phone in pouring rain once, and it got messed up. I took out the batter and the sim card and all available parts that could come off of the phone, and I let it dry. DON'T use a blow dryer or put it IN the dryer or any of the sort, that doesn't work! Just let it sit out for about a day, and if it still doesn't work right, well you're probably going to have to get a new one.

My phone dropped into a big puddle and worked after i dried it off some.
The problem you may have later is if you bring the phone into the shop for a broken hinge or antenna...
My flip phone hinge was getting sloppy and it was still under warrantee but they would not fix it as there is a tag on the battery and inside the battery compartment that "runs" its colors when water hits it.
When those tags run from water verizon refuses to honor all warranties regardless of what the phone problem may be.
They had no problem at all charging me for extra insurance each month though. Live and learn I suppose.

Get a zip lock back and a box of white rice. Put the phone in the bag and fill with rice. Seal and leave the bag in a dry area for about 3 to four days. The phone will work fine after the rice absorbs all the water.

This will work!

Mine fell in the toilet. Ya, um...thats complicated. But it was clean so i quickly reached in and grabbed it. It worked for like a few minutes. Then it started malfunctioning on the screen and acting very slow. Then I took the back cover off to dry the battery off. I turned the phone back on and the screen didn't work. So if you get it out quick the phone will basically work but the screen will short ciruit. This happens alot.

Rule number 1...Do NOT turn on the phone. This can short it out and fry the phone instantly.
2: Take the battery out and set the phone down as open as it gets and give it at least 24 hours.
Once the phone has had at least that long, you can try putting the battery back in and turning it on.
But make sure you do not try turning it on.

Sometime it works if water didn't entered the main phone chip. I suggest that you remove the phone body and keep it in the sun for 1 day to let the water evaporate. Then see if it works ...
